Peterborough Artists Open Studios 2009The 2009 Art Antiques and Interiors exhibition hosted by Active Interiors during the first 3 weekends of July was a resounding success.
200 visitors came through the door and we raised £178 for Thorpe Hall a Sue Ryder Care hospice in Peterborough.
The exhibition started with a wonderful Pimms evening on the Friday night which was really buzzing. The weather was kind to us so people could sit in the garden and relax.
Here is a photo of my gorgeous daughter Charlotte aged 9 at the front of the house welcoming guests and making sure they pay their £1 charity entrance fee!!!
The exhibition was part of the Peterborough Artists' Open Studios which is in its 7th year. Click here for further details. The artists exhibiting here sold several of their works and the visiting interior design company Ivory Tree Designs featured on this website received new contracts not to mention the antique and vintage purchases

 front room
In the forefront of the photo, you can see a selection of vintage suitcases. Active Interiors always tries to find interesting vintage luggage. On top you can see the Victorian cocked hat and case available for purchase on the website.
Above the 19th century gilt console table is another example of Sue Cooper's work, a wonderful horse's head which is available for purchase. Click here to enquire. It seemed apt to display the horse's head with this wonderful bronze head The Thinker by renowned Carl Frisendahl 1909.
In the background you can see one of the pair of exquisite 1930s Italian glass vases beautifully enhanced by Fiona Brown's arrangement of reeds and bullrushes which she collected from Flag Fen our very own Peterborough bronze excavation site. Please enquire if you would like floral arrangements which are original and impacting.

daisy magnetsThere is always a product which sells like crazy. This exhibition launched Daisy Chain Magnets which proved ideal for some modest retail therapy. It was a real treat from our visiting interior designer Jody Atkins of Ivory Tree Designs who managed to get them before any high street retailer. Over 30 flew out of the door. But why? You can use them to accessorise soft furnishings, curtains, handbags and clothes. You can even attach them to windows. They are simple to use and were offered at an irresistible price too. £4.95 instead of £6.50!!!!! Email us if you would like to purchase at the reduced price |
gardenVisitors were able to enjoy the garden with their Pimms at the open evening and on some of the public exhibition days with their fresh coffee and home made banana bread. If you've tasted it and want the recipe click here and email us
